About Us

Born and raised on a farm in rural Lancaster County, Robert Hershey went to work for a former school teacher who at that time operated a small group of Country Farm stores near Reading. Robert worked for this group from 1975 until they were sold in June of 1986.

In August of 1986, Robert and his wife, Debbie, opened their own store in Temple and called it simply THE HARVEST to convey the harvest of delicious homemade foods they offered. Many of these foods were made personally by Debbie, whose talent for cooking perfection is shown in the taste of her products. Ten years later in 1996, as the demand for Debbie’s homemade cooking increased, the Hersheys added a commercial kitchen onto their existing Lancaster County farmhouse. Debbie was able to employ family, friends, and neighbors to help keep up with production demands.

In October of 1998, the Hersheys moved their retail store from the rented Temple property after purchasing their present location in Laureldale which offers more space and easy customer parking.

In 2005, Robert and Debbie Hershey decided to add yet a more personal touch to their business and registered their name officially as HERSHEY HARVEST.

We are honored to serve the finest people of Berks and surrounding counties. We have been blessed with the same retail management team since 1988. The experience of Linda Krupa and Kristine Krupa-Hinsey, along with their skilled, pleasant staff, enables us to go the extra mile to assure the finest customer service available.
